SECOND TUG FOR GRIMSBY LAUNCHED
"Launched from the Knottingley shipyard of John Harker Ltd., on
Thursday, was the second of two single screw tugs built for the
Grimsby Exchange Ltd., for general duties at Grimsby.
It was launched and named by Mrs G.C. Loft, wife of the Grimsby
company's general manager.
The vessel measures 52 feet by 18
feet 6 ins, with a gross tonnage of approx. 40 tons. Main
propulsion is by a diesel engine developing 200 bhp at 600 rpm,
and the auxiliary set is an air cooled engine developing 11.5
bhp at 600 rpm.
The 'Alfred Bannister' was the 257th vessel launched at the
Knottingley shipyard."
