Launch of Elsie Hunt at John Harker's shipyard in Knottingley

Registered at Hull number 39 on 26th November 1963. Measurements 96.9ft x 17.6ft x 7.35ft, gross tonnage 119.76, register 80.76, fitted with a six-cylinder Gardner engine.

CARGO BARGE LAUNCHED AT KNOTTINGLEY
A general cargo barge was launched yesterday from the Knottingley shipyard of John Harker Ltd. It is the sixth vessel of its type to be built by the company for John Hunt and Sons (Leeds) Limited, and is the 259th vessel to be launched at the yard.
It was launched by Mrs R. Anderson, sister of Mr. R. Hunt (s Director of the purchasing firm), and named 'ELSIE HUNT' (Mrs. Anderson's maiden name).
The vessel which measures 100feet 6ins x 17ft 6ins, has a carrying capacity of 230 tons. Main propulsion is by a diesel engine developing 110BHP at 1200rpm. The cabin has living quarters for a two-man crew. Principal trading area for the vessel will be Leeds to Hull and the main West Riding waterways.
