I worked at the Habro for over ten years and I knew everyone from the top of the street to the bottom. The Habro was owned by Harris Bros., printers of Featherstone, and I worked alongside Mrs Mary Harris who is now a grand old lady of 96. The Habro was a joy to children and stocked the very latest in books and toys. Christmas was a very special time with goods put away and paid for on weekly terms. It’s always a surprise to me when someone says “I remember you in the Habro!”.
